AN UNCONVENTIONAL path to engineering
There are two experiences in my life that have shaped who I am and how I approach engineering. The first is my work in my family's worldwide zip line business (ziprider.com), and the second is guiding 5-day rafting trips for Action Whitewater Adventures on the Main Salmon River. Both have served as unconventional classrooms, and have taught me to solve problems in real time, adapt to unpredictable conditions, and the importance of teamwork. OTHER INTERESTS
HIGH JUMP
I competed in football, golf, and wrestling throughout high school, but my heart was in track and field- specifically the high jump.
I qualified for state four years in a row and placed 3rd as a sophomore, junior, and senior. I finished my senior track season with a PR of 6'4".
SKIING
I started skiing when I was 2 years old, and have spent almost every winter weekend on the mountain since. Although I was never drawn to competitive racing, charging hard lines in the mountains remains one of my greatest passions.
